Open Trek Owers' Corner to Kokoda
Date: 20 August 2010 - 28 August 2010
This trek has been designed for my daughter Mikayla along with her hubby James and their friends. They want a trek where they can try and fit everything into a week away from Australia, still complete the track and spend some R & R in Kokoda. Others are welcome to join this trek. Other Comments - this is considered a 'FAST TREK'.
Please do not put your name down for this trek unless you have done lots of training and can run at least 10km. The 9 days is made of of a short start at the beginning and extra days spent in Kokoda
This trek will spend 5 nights on the track and will walk out on the 6th day into Kokoda made up as follows:20th August - Day 1: Trekkers will arrive from Australia. They will be met and will be driven straight out to Bomana War Cemetery and then to Owers' Corner. Depending on the time they will more then likely overnight at Goldie River.
21st August - Day 2: Up bright and early to walk up to Ioribaiwa
22nd August - Day 3: Ioribaiwa to Agulogo
23rd August - Day 4: Agulogo to Naduri
24th August - Day 5: Naduri to Eora Creek
25th August - Day 6: Eora Creek to Kokoda and overnight at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat and fill up on pizza's
26th August - Day 7: Spend the day relaxing in Kokoda
27th August - Day 8: Drive up to Eora for a swim in the creek and barbeque lunch - return to Orohaven Kokoda Retreat
28th August - Day 9: Drive down to Guria airport in KTL2 for the flight from Popondetta to Port Moresby.

LABOUR Day Weekend - Owers' Cnr to Kokoda
Date: 2 October 2010 - 9 October 2010
This trek commences from Owers' Corner on the 2nd October and will arrive in Kokoda on the 9th October where you will overnight as our guests at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. The following day you will be flown by chartered aircraft back to Port Moresby.The trek has been created so that you can finish work on Friday 1st October and fly to PNG on the 2nd and commence walking the same day as you arrive thus saving one day and also accommodation costs in Port Moresby. The flight should arrive in from Kokoda on average around 9:30 to 11am so you should be back in time for a flight back to Australia the same day 9th October in time for work on Monday morning.
Alternatively if you wish to arrive earlier or depart later and stay on in PNG, this is entirely up to you. However on the morning of the 2nd October the trek will not depart until we are sure all trekkers booked for this trek have arrived in PNG. Trek 580:

Owers' Corner to Kokoda - Australian led trek. This trek has been created to allow trekkers to commence their walk so they can attend the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Day - 3rd November in Kokoda. The Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels (FWA) Day program for 2010 is about to be released and the series of events will ensure a great day for communities and trekkers alike. Features for the day will include a Sports Program, presentation of FWA medallions, cultural programs, children’s programs and FWA races with groups undertaking a series of tasks to symbolize the activities of the FWAs in 1942.
If you would like to join this trek, trekkers will be commence your walk at Owers' Corner on the 26th October and is planned to arrive in Kokoda on the 2nd November where you will overnight as our special guests at 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat'. The following day you will be able to attend the celebrations as set down by the Kokoda Track Authority. That night you will once overnight at Orohaven. The next day your walk will be driven down to Guria airport, Popondetta for your flight back to Port Moresby.

Kokoda to Owers' Corner - FUZZY WUZZY ANGEL'S DAY

Features for the day will include a Sports Program, presentation of FWA medallions, cultural programs, children’s programs and FWA races with groups undertaking a series of tasks to symbolize the activities of the FWAs in 1942.
If you would like to join this trek, trekkers will be flown into Popondetta on the 2nd November and be driven by road up to 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat'. The following day 3rd November you will be able to attend the celebrations as set down by the Kokoda Track Authority. That night you will once overnight at Orohaven. The next day your walk will commence towards Owers' Corner finishing your trek on the 11th November.

This trek has been created for anyone who would like to travel to Kokoda for attend the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Day on the 3rd November in Kokoda. The Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels (FWA) Day program for 2010 is about to be released and the series of events will ensure a great day for communities and trekkers alike. Features for the day will include a Sports Program, presentation of FWA medallions, cultural programs, children’s programs and FWA races with groups undertaking a series of tasks to symbolize the activities of the FWAs in 1942.
If you wish to consider travelling to PNG to attend the the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Day in Kokoda, your flight will either fly into Kokoda or Guria/Popondetta. Accommodation will be at 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat' in camp stretcher style accommodation in our huts or if overbooked, a tent on our beautiful landscaped gardens.
As we have a limited number of huts which can accommodate up to 45 people in 3 separate huts, please book early to avoid disappointment.

This trek has been designed to limit your time away from Australia and/or your job. As the trek commences at the Owers' Corner end you can even fly in on the day of the trek providing you come up from Cairns as the flight arrived around 8:30am. So the choice is yours, travel up the day before and overnight or travel up on the day and head straight out on the track. Once you arrive in from your trek you can either spend a night or fly out on the afternoon's flight back to Australia thus avoiding any accommodation costs here in PNG. Alternatively if you wish to stay, you still have Friday, Saturday and Sunday to return home before work on the Monday morning.

KOKODA CHALLENGE RACE 2011. Our race in 2011 will commence at 7am McDonald's Corner, (Port Moresby end of the track) and will finish at 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat' situated adjacent to the airport in Kokoda. A time limit of 39 hours is set down for this race. If anyone wants to win this race they will have to plan to be fit enough to run/walk for up to 20 hours in duration or longer if they need to stop and sleep.All competitors will be required to be at McDonald's Corner no later then 6am on the morning of the race. This race will be in honour of 'Soc Kienzle' who has often informed me, that he is the record from McDonald's Corner to Kokoda set when he was a teenager returning home for his mother's birthday.

Ower's Corner to Kokoda - FUZZY WUZZY ANGEL'S DAY

Owers' Corner to Kokoda - Australian led trek. This trek has been created to allow trekkers to commence their walk so they can attend the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Day - 3rd November in Kokoda. The Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels (FWA) Day program for 2011 will be released at some stage by the Kokoda Track AuthorityFeatures for the day will include a Sports Program, presentation of FWA medallions, cultural programs, children’s programs and FWA races with groups undertaking a series of tasks to symbolize the activities of the FWAs in 1942.
If you would like to join this trek, trekkers will be commence your walk at Owers' Corner on the 26th October and is planned to arrive in Kokoda on the 2nd November where you will overnight as our special guests at 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat'. The following day you will be able to attend the celebrations as set down by the Kokoda Track Authority. That night you will once overnight at Orohaven. The next day your walk will be driven down to Guria airport, Popondetta for your flight back to Port Moresby.

Kokoda to Owers' Corner - PNG led trek. This trek has been created to allow trekkers to fly in and attend the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels Day - 3rd November. If you would like to join this trek, trekkers will be flown into Popondetta or Kokoda on the 2nd November and be driven by road up to 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat'. The next day your walk will commence towards Owers' Corner finishing your trek on the 11th November.
